Area Information

Downtown

Downtown Austin is quickly becoming a city center to be reckoned with. As Austin has grown, so has its center. Many multi-unit complexes have recently been built downtown and have opened up the opportunity for many people to live in this area. Both professionals and students can now live close to 6th Street, The Warehouse District, UT Campus, and other amenities. For urbanites this is clearly your best bet.

Enfield/Tarrytown

The Enfield/Tarrytown area is just west/southwest of the UT Campus and downtown. This area offers many of Austin's finest homes and small quaint apartment complexes, townhouses, and condominiums. For those looking to live close to Town Lake and Lamar this area offers Austin living at its finest. UT offers its own shuttle dedicated solely to the Enfield area.

University of Texas Campus

This area of Austin is one of, if not the most densely populated areas in Austin. The UT Campus offers the many conveniences required of students. Greek sororities and fraternities are located in this area, many restaurants are located right on the drag, and most importantly West and North Campus are within walking distance of the UT-Austin campus. UT offers shuttles dedicated soley to the West and North Campus areas.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is just north of North Campus and is a unique and historic neighborhood of Austin. Hyde Park is home to many great restaurants and coffee houses. For those looking for the feel of home and friendly neighbors with the proximity to campus and downtown this is your best bet.

East

East Austin is becoming the newest rage for development in central Austin. Many of the newer homes, condos, and apartments are located in this area. Adjacent to a growing downtown, boasting a rich cultural heritage and possessing some of the last affordable homes in the central area, East Austin is experiencing a rebirth. Now is a great time to look in East Austin.

Far West

Far West has become a very popular option for those who need a more affordable living alternative, but is also relatively close to UT Campus. Far West is just minutes up Mopac from UT Campus. Although not much new development has occurred in this area over the past decade, it offers many apartments, houses, townhomes, and duplexes. UT offers its own shuttle dedicated solely to the Far West area.

Riverside

Riverside is just minutes southeast down Interstate 35 from UT Campus. Over the past decade many huge developments have been built in this area. A large majority of students choose to live in this area because of the great value. Many communities offer their own shuttles to the UT campus, roommate matching, on-site fitness facilities amongst other amenities, and credit card payment as a payment option.

Arboretum

Located in the heart of northwest Austin, the Arboretum could easily be considered the second city center of Austin. It offers many dining, shopping, and entertainment alternatives. There are also many businesses and hotels located in the area. It is located approximately 10-15 minutes north along Mopac from the UT Campus.

South Congress (SoCo)/South

Just south of Town Lake and downtown, SoCo is considered by many to be the heart of Austin. This area of town has many unique attributes that include shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Many consider this area of town to be the lifeline to "Keeping Austin Weird." Also, this area is just minutes from St. Edwards University.

Westlake

Located just south/southwest of Austin, Westlake is one of the premier areas of Austin. Westlake is a city within Austin and has its own elected and appointed officials. Many homes here are not only beautiful, but have some of the most breathtaking views of the hill country and the Austin skyline.

Round Rock

North 15 miles on I-35 from downtown Austin, one cannot miss the fast-growing city of Round Rock. Home to Dell Inc., new tolls roads, a new outlet mall, IKEA, and many other amentities and attractions Round Rock is a great place to call home.

Cedar Park

Ranked by Forbes Magazine as the 11th fastest growing suburb in 2007 Cedar Park is 17 miles north of downtown Austin. Cedar Park is also just minutes from Lake Travis, one the most popular recreational lakes in Austin. Lakeline Mall, one of the largest two story malls in central Texas, is just south of Cedar Park at 620 and 183.

Buda/Kyle

Roughly 15 miles south of Austin down Interstate 35 and 20 miles north of San Marcos and Texas State University, Buda and Kyle have gone from quiet railyard communities to vibrant suburbs. This area gives those seeking a rural feel with the proximity of the city a great option to live.

Georgetown

10 miles north of Round Rock and 25 miles from Austin along I-35, Georgetown is home to Southwestern University, a small liberal arts school. Georgetown attractions include Lake Georgetown, the Inner Space Caverns, and the Blue Hold, a scenic lagoon located on the San Gabriel River. Like Kyle and Buda, Georgetown is great place for those who are looking for a more rural setting with the convenieces of a city.

Leander

Just north of Cedar Park along the Highway 183 corridor, Leander has seen explosive growth over the past decade. Leander ISD has also proven to be a great school district. On the edge of the Hill Country and home to approximately 20,000 people, Leander is also close to many natural bodies of water, including Lake Travis.

Lago Vista

Lago Vista is located on the north side of Lake Travis and home to many of the Hill Country's golf courses. From Highway 183 head west on FM 1431. As Austin continues to grow north and along the North Highland Lakes, Lago Vista will as well. Located in the what some would consider the heart of the Hill Country, many homes have spectacular rolling hill views.

Bee Caves

Bee Caves is located on the south side of Lake Travis and approximately 20 miles west of downtown Austin. Bee Caves is home to the 1,000,000 square foot Galleria Mall and many other amenities. Like Westlake, Bee Caves is its own city and is governed by their own city council.
